See the mortifying reflections

I always wanted to feel the true meaning of the word “Heavenly”, then I got the opportunity to feel that when I planned for a visit to Sikkim, India.

Believe it or not, it is one of the best places I could ever imagine. The moment I entered in Sikkim, I was speechless. The parallel road to Teesta River which takes us to Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim, was picturesque. Spending 6 days in various cities of Sikkim, it was time to catch the flight from Bagdogra, the nearest airport to Sikkim.

I was in my cab when I saw a group of monkeys playing around. I took my camera, fixed my lens, and sneaked out of the car window. I took almost 11 shots of monkeys and believe me that they all came out brilliant.

The patches of grey color which you can see in the background is the water of Teesta River. The local grass and herbs were everywhere, so I wanted them to be part of my frame. The monkey here is not visible because the light was filtered by the immediate branch. This angle for this frame was something I intended as the essence of Flaura and Fauna comes out nicely, as per my views.

One who gets the Ring over the thing

“The feeling of meeting your Best Friend with you Love beside you, is Heavenly Feeling.”

Yes, I did get the same feeling when I visited Mumbai in the month of November. Though the main reason behind the visit was to attend a friend’s wedding, but I was more excited to buddy. It was great fun spending three complete days with my love and my best friend.

It was second day of the visit, when we decided to visit Juhu Beach, Mumbai. As soon as we reached there, we saw this old gold game where the person is required to ring the things perfectly to win it. Though none of us tried it, when we stopped there for 10-15 minutes to look at the way others were enjoying.

As I was carrying my camera with me, I was all set to take some nice shots. Here it is, my most favorite photograph of all.

Textured twisted shoot

Being in Hyderabad (India) for almost two years, I always used to think that I have visited almost all genres of places. Then came this day. It was the day when I and one of my photo buddy decided to do a couple shoot for one of my very good friends and her boyfriend. We decided on Qutub Shahi Tombs, and as that place was never visited either by me or my photo buddy, we decided on doing a home work.

While we were on our way to Qutub Shahi Tombs, one gentleman just passed us in his car. He applied breaks, took a reverse, and asked my photo buddy if we are professional photographers. He nodded with positive response (Who will say No when you are being called a professional for something you love to do). Though I was on a call that time, but soon after finishing my call I saw that my buddy was scrolling down some of the photographs shown by that guy. When I went there, the guy introduced himself as the owner of one of the Horse Riding Clubs in Hyderabad.

He wanted us to click some nice photographs of himself and his horses. I am always UP for photography and we could even see the scope of earning some money out of it (A nice treat was already planned from that money :P ). The next morning, we visited his riding club with complete photography gear. We took a lot of nice photographs which we were really happy for. We showed the same to that guy and he was loving each and every photograph.

Then, we thought of ending everything with a direct discussion on money and transfer of photographs. Guess what? That guy was expecting free work from professional photographers. He mentioned that there are many people who ask him permission to visit this club. He also mentioned that we were lucky to cover the photographs of his horses.

Does this really sound right to you? We felt very bad.

Whatever it is, but when I came home and saw every photograph, I was really glad that I captured a lot of pictures. Every picture captured that day was worth my time. Though I was never after money, but the way approached to us had set all those expectations.

Selling Sailing to tourists

One of the most beautiful places I have ever visited is Hogenakkal (Tamil Nadu). Though the place is not known to many of us (specially the people from north part of India), but this place is seriously considered as a perfect place for outing with your friends and family.

I can bet that most of us have seen a glimpse of this place, but we might not be able to connect properly. Where? Let me help you. Do you remember the famous song “Rukmani! Rukmani! Shaadi ke baad kya kya hua?” from the movie Roja? If not, then it is not a big deal because you surely do remember the movie Ravan, featuring Abhishek Bachhan and Aishwariya Rai Bachhan. Job done! This is where the shootings were done. It’s that same place with mountains around and a round boat sailing in the Kaveri water.

This photograph was captured when I was sailing in my boat. Though the moment was worth keeping everything away, but I cannot expect myself to keep my camera away. The water drizzle might have had hurt my camera, but risk is a part of life. I saw this sailor coming towards my boat and was about to collide. And, it really did, which again is normal. Before he could hit the boat, I pointed my camera at him, quickly decided on the frame, and clicked two pictures.

Though this photograph was taken in a normal color mode, I wanted to convert it into Black & White. The tones have been increased to a bit to depict the strength and stamina required to sail it for almost 6-8 hours a day with no weekend off.

Here is the final result.  Do not forget to leave your comments on the post. Ask your questions related to the places I visit, or photography.

Lost in the Time

Lost in the Time

On my recent visit to my hometown in Rajasthan, I had to board my flight from Jaipur, Rajasthan (India) to Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh (India) while returning back. It was around 5am when I was having Tea at one of the stalls in Jaipur at Badi Chopad. The Khari biscuit and Tea is always a super combo which I was enjoying to the core. Being working in south part of India, there are many things which I always look for on my every visit to the north part of India. Jaipur, the pink city of India, has always been nice to me. Ever since I got my SLR, this was my first trip to Jaipur.

Lets take a flash back. I took a train from Kota to Jaipur at around 12 midnight. After spending precious with some of great friends, I took my train which was supposed to reach Jaipur by 5am. I thought that I will wait in the Waiting Room for the clock to reach 7am. Hell it is! The train reached Jaipur before time i.e. 4.30am. It was extreme dark outside, so I decided to go and get fresh. I took a Cycle Rickshaw from Railway Station to Badi Chopad. The guy took only 30 INR (approx. 70 cents). I reached Badi Chopad at 5am. As I was little sleepy plus hungry, I decided to have my morning tea with some Khari (it is a kind of biscuit with layers in it). I was enjoying my Khari with every dip in the tea glass.

When I was looking here and there, I had a look at this guy who just took out his Cigarette. As his face was to the other side, I was just visualizing the best capture which was possible. I took my Nikon D3100 out and put the Nikon 70-300mm lens which I borrowed from one of my friends. I zoomed it and waited for this man to turn a little. Whoa! I got more than I was expecting. While smoking his little stick, the guy started cleaning his eyes.

And, here is what I got.
